Field of the Invention This invention relates to an improvement in a pneumatic tire in the inner tread. 2. Description of the Prior Art When the tread surface of a tire is broken down, for example, during mounting onto a wheel, the tire is put in a state of being unbalanced due to a change in the weight or moment center of the tire. This unbalance causes air leakage and shaking of the vehicle, leading to a danger of causing an accident. For the purpose of preventing this danger, it has been proposed to provide on the inner tread a convex protrusion (concavity) called a "dimple" which is in substantially the same size as the volume of air present between the tread surface and the ground. As described in U.S. Pat. No. 3,878,812, this dimple protrudes from the inner side of the tread surface and has a surface area, in its section perpendicular to the circumferential direction, of at least 4% of the outer surface of the tread surface. The presence of such a dimple in the inner surface of the tread can prevent a reduction in the surface area of the tread surface and the leakage of air from between the tread surface and the ground, thus minimizing the danger of causing an accident. However, when a tire is mounted onto a wheel, the wheel flange contacts the tire, and the tire surface is stretched radially outwardly by a large force to reduce the air volume in the space between the inner surface of the tread and the ground.
